internet explore ,not in my windows 8.1

i have windows 8.1 on my computer,and so dose my wife,she goes to search,and types internet explorer,and bingo its there,i go to search and type internet explorer on my compuer and nothing,my computer says i have internet explorer 11,so i go into chance default programs and it not on the list ,but its on the list in my wife computer,can u PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!thanking u in advance ray......
