Hi All,
I am trying to understand smartcard removal behavior in outlook. Here is an issue:
-I have smart card inserted in my card reader and then I start outlook and tries to sign mail. I get prompted for smart card pin. Now, I try to sign another email and this time I dont get any pin prompt for smartcard and mail is signed and sent successfully as well.
-Now, outlook remains opened and I remove and insert smartcard again and this time whenever I try to sign any mails, I always get prompted for smartcard pin. I was expecting this time smartcard will prompt pin for signing first mail (after re-inserting smartcard) and then further it wont prompt for smartcard pin.
-To resolve this I need to restart outlook and then if I sign first mail it will prompt for pin and then further if I try to sign another mail, it wont prompt for any pin.
Is this behavior expected? Any explanation would be appreciable.
Please note that my smartcard refers to Microsoft base smart card crypto provider CSP.
