We have various pages on our site that will open an asp file with an Excel ContentType (application/vnd.ms-excel), and IE will offer the user the choice of opening the file in Excel or saving the file to their desktop. If the user chooses to open
the file in Excel, then Excel will launch and the file will be created and opened within the program. However, this week, we have had some users get the latest update to IE 11 (Update Version 11.0.33). Those users are no longer able to open the
files directly in Excel...it asks them if they want to, and shows the correct file size of the file that would be the output, but when they choose that option, Excel launches but does not open anything. If these users choose to save the file to their
desktop, it saves correctly, and they are able to then launch the file in Excel. The users that have the older version of IE 11 (Update Version 11.0.32) are able to select the Open in Excel option and have the page launch in Excel as normal. Is
this a known issue with the latest IE update, and is there a known fix?
