Hello,
I work tech support. I have a user with a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10 installed on it. This user uses several programs that don't seem to play well with Edge. It has been decided that the user will use IE 11 until the kinks are worked out of Edge.
The problem I am having is that IE doesn't want to display certain parts of web pages. One web page in particular is MSN.com. I can browse to MSN and it seems like it would load. However the images next to the articles do not load. For instance right now there is a article titled "Earnhardt Jr. to miss next race". Just to the left of that is a picture of the Earnhardt Jr. On the users machine the picture will not load. Additionally near the top of the page there is a feed of articles that keep switching. When I mouse over these articles I get arrows to show up on the sides and I can move between those articles. On the users machine it only displays the first article and will not swipe over to the other articles. Clearly there is something wrong here.
There are other pages that are failing to load as well.
I have tried to troubleshoot this and have not gotten far. I have done the following.
1. Tried to do a settings reset of IE.
2. Tried to uninstall/reinstall IE through the Control Panel. Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off. I then unchecked IE, rebooted, checked IE, then rebooted again. At first MSN.com actually was failing to load the names of the articles but the unistall/reinstall seems to have helped since now I can at least browse to those articles.
3. Checked the installed updates in the Control Panel. Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates. IE doesn't have any updates listed here.
4. Have turned compatibility mode on and off to see if it helps, which it has not.
5. Checked the add-ons for IE. On my computer the pages load just fine. I ensured all of the add-ons on the user's IE matched the add-ons of mine.
6. I have manually checked all of the settings in Internet Options with my own to ensure that everything matches.
I am really running out of ideas here. Unfortunately this user is high up in my organization and it is making me look bad that I cannot solve this issue.
I will be eternally grateful for any assistance.
Thanks
