Self-signed server certificate for SSL

Hello,

Currently, i met one confusion issue for Self-signed certificate.

i used console application which calling openssl to make communication with HTTPS web application(using self-signed certificate).

but, i found that console application always return certificate signature failure.

So, could you please give me clarification what ways can resolve this self-signed certificate issue? or no ways?
