I was upgraded to IE about two weeks ago - forced on me at VERY annoying time - when I logged on in the morning. First a comment - previously with my old computer Win XP all MS downloads would install on shut down. That was fine with me - I shut the machine down and walked away. Now with Win7 they install on start-up. Did the developers have a clue as to how inconvenient this is? The first order of my day is turn on this computer, attend to e-mail(I get overnight mail from overseas) and other online activity. Now my whole schedule gets blown as updates are downloaded and installed on start-up. The day IE10 was forced on my that was the worst ! I had NO idea why I was being frozen out of my own computer until after the fact. I now have these questions and issues: Where did the stop icon go? X used to mark the spot in the address bar - it has disappeared and nobody knows where it went. I am a busy person and if I go to a website that takes too long to load for any reason I like to stop the process and go on to the next task. I cannot do that any more - WORSE - I cannot even shut down the page, everything freezes up! IF I wait long enough the page will load but most times I have used a forced shut down to get out. I do not have time to waste staring at a frozen screen. This is unacceptable. I suspect that sometimes it freezes because there is a download running in the background that I cannot identify - PLUS give us an "in progress" icon in the bottom task bar so that we KNOW why everything is freezing up! For the record I am using a Toshiba Satellite P755 with an i-7 chip, Windows 7, IE10, and have a fast cable connection, protected by Norton Security Suite. If this is NOT the right forum please redirect me to where I can get the answers I seek. Thank you.
