IE 10 web page showing compatibility view button, why and how to resolve?

We have an ASP.NET 4.5 Web Forms developed on a public web site and just recently people are starting to use IE 10 to view the site.

Certain public users are sending in complaints that links and text are missing from the page.

We have updated some public machines we have at our office to IE 10. And I was able to reproduce the issue. The only way I could resolve the issue was to use the meta tag meta http-equiv="x-ua-compatible" content="IE=9".

This question I have is how do I determine what part of my web page is violating the IE 10 standards to make IE 10 have these display issues. I have already tried the javascript that you can place at the top of your page, but that doesn't provide any help.

Any help or suggestion to find the incompatibility would be great. Thank you, Brad
